C

“C” comes from Côte d’Ivoire on the African continent. We met him at the border of Italy and France. He had just arrived two days earlier from his long journey to Europe. In France, he was welcomed by the association “Defends ta citoyenneté”. “C” fled from an abusive uncle who would not let him go to school and forced him to work in the cocoa field from the age of 10. His journey to freedom took him through Mali, Mauritania and Lybia. C felt so happy to feel this “human touch” arriving in this valley.
